[Chapter 5] American Bletchley
Chapter 5: Another Friday in Baltimore
The sun was beginning to rise over the Atlantic Ocean. Inside the Schoolhouse, the air was tense. Yu’s face was glowing green by several monitors showing RF spectrum data from the directional jamming array she had put up on the roof and shimmied in through a window onto the first floor.
She took a sip of coffee. She didn’t know how many cups she had consumed. Since she had spent the last two days awake, she also didn’t know when to technically separate the previous and current days. At midnight? But she had been in the middle of drinking a cup. Would that count for half? Or maybe when she finished? These were the kinds of neurotic questions she was asking herself in her caffeine-addled mind.
Terry was a bit more constrained as she sat on the other side of the table, pulling up the security camera feeds from Penn Station and the surrounding businesses. Technically this was legally dubious, but extenuating circumstances meant they did not have time to wait for a warrant.
David stood in the corner of the room glued to his phone as he listened to updates from various agencies. They expected something would happen, but didn’t believe the details they offered.
“Hold on, I spot someone. Suspect one is entering North Tunnel access point,” Terry spotted on the grayscale low-res feed. “They have a heavy backpack.”
“Looks like there’s some others when I use the thermal. Two suspects. Trailing behind.”
